Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without words
And never stops at all
~ Emily Dickinson ~
Lately I’ve been trying to think about what hope means to me, and how I would define it. Is it the anticipation or expectation of something coming into fruition? Is it that feeling that the things we invest our time and energy into will take us somewhere better than where we currently are?
What is your definition of hope? What do you hope for?
Maybe you hope for that much needed break, the promotion at work, or maybe it’s simply a bright and secure future for your little ones. Maybe you just hope for a better tomorrow than was today. (For me, it’s all the above)
I came across this blog post that I loved. Here is one of my favorite excerpts from it:
“It is powerful to stand up from overwhelm and to keep pressing forward. It is powerful to admit that one doesn’t have it all together and that mistakes are made…It is powerful to be a mom. That is an amazing thing – a life giving honoring beautiful thing – and that is what you, right now, are in the midst of living.”
It gave me the boost I needed to carry on towards my hopes. I hope it helps you, too.
